Pros And Cons Of Artificial Grass

Artificial grass is basically a synthetic surface of plastic fibers designed to resemble natural grass. It's commonly used on sporting arenas for sporting events or normally are usually played outdoors on artificial turf. But it's also being used now on commercial and residential lawns as well as on sports fields.

Artificial grass does have its share of critics, with some people saying that while it may be more visually attractive than normal grass, there are too many disadvantages in the way that it can be damaged, particularly by ice or snow. They're also concerned about the lack of natural vegetation growing underneath it, as well as the constant need to continually re-seed and mow it.

However, there are those who swear by synthetic turf. They say that it's more durable and can actually look better than grass even though it is still not as lush.

Some studies have even shown that people have a preference to playing on synthetic grass over grass at home and the numbers are gradually increasing. This may be down to the fact that the artificial grass is not affected by the weather like natural grass so no maintenance is required.

Although artificial turf costs more than natural grass, they have been proven to last longer. Plus, the amount of money you'll save by using synthetic turf is actually quite huge considering how much you will have to spend on lawns in general, and on maintenance, especially if you have a larger property.

There are however, some disadvantages to using synthetic turf. The biggest being the fact that it doesn't look as good as natural grass as it does when viewed from far away and can easily become dirty from the dirt that accumulates under it. So if you want to get rid of the problem of having grass in your backyard, and you want to make the most of your lawn and make it as attractive as possible, then artificial turf might be a good choice for you.

Other disadvantages of artificial turf are that it does not allow you to mow your lawn, which means that it will have to be fertilized constantly. This can be very expensive, especially if you have a big yard and have to pay to have it mowed.

Another downside of artificial turf is that it's not as resistant to wear and tear as real grass, making it prone to wear and tear. Also, since the fibers are made out of plastic, they are less durable than other types of artificial grass.

The good thing is that there are many alternatives available to artificial grass that you can choose from. If you are not bothered about the appearance, you can go for the cheap and low-maintenance lawns available at garden centers, but if you want a more aesthetically pleasing lawn, then you can try the more expensive and luxurious artificial turf for your home.
